ADP to Acquire The Cobalt Group

(NASDAQ: ADP) today announced that it has entered a definitive agreement to acquire The Cobalt Group. The transaction is subject to normal regulatory review and is expected to close in the 3rd quarter of Calendar Year 2010.

With this acquisition, ADP will be positioned to deliver an improved and enhanced model for automotive retailing based on a set of digital marketing solutions that will help transform how vehicles are marketed, sold and managed throughout the entire customer lifecycle. Seattle tech company Cobalt bought

To expand its business in the auto industry, Automatic Data Processing is buying Seattle technology company Cobalt in a cash deal worth $400 million.ADP, a publicly traded company based in Roseland, N.J., made the announcement Friday. The outsourcing company, which handles services such as payroll and human resources for clients, will add Cobalt’s products to what it already offers the auto industry.

Yahoo Autos Takes New Route With New-Car Quotes

Yahoo’s (YHOO) taken a detour with its auto Web site that it says puts it on the right road.

The Web portal this month will start using an outside company – Dealix – to provide auto dealer price quotes on new cars, via Yahoo Autos.

Yahoo had done this in-house, but the company is reorganizing to focus on its strengths.

‘The buying and selling of new-car leads is not something we are going to define ourselves by,’ said Damon Cronkey, regional business lead in North America for Yahoo Autos.
